EPIPHANY
Noun. *The manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles
*The feast day commemorating this on January 6
*A moment of sudden revelation or insight
This is Night Four without an oven and Day Three waiting around the home for a repairman to rescue it. Oh the duo repairmen came yesterday, Epiphany Day, just to diagnose the situation, which MBH, my wise engineer already determined. Actually I had a functional oven but its door locked out homemade chicken enchiladas or anything else needing to be in it to bake or roast.
However, the icy night before, I thought the great room would warm up with the oven in self-clean. I stared at all the electronic pads without an instruction manual from the previous owner. In hyper addled fuzzy-eyed logic I pressed the pad labeled LOCK. The oven digits spelled out a weird code and wouldn’t clean or open. I needed my engineer hubby. MBH downloaded a generic manual and deciphered the error code. We needed a new handle lock, which wouldn’t be available until next Monday.
So I must wait like I waited on Epiphany Day. I fiddled the keys that day ferreting out an epiphany of an insightful blog for you. By mid afternoon the epiphany failed me, but the "dynamic duo" repairmen were finally at the door.
Well, Robin stood by himself on the porch, saw that I welcomed him in, and then he backed away to summon his partner. Robin wore oversized jeans, a hoodie, and black tee. Batman ambled up in cowboy boots, shades, and hat. He was more Don Imus grizzled than Adam West dashing. And the entire time Robin deferred to him.
I sat typing nearby, yet barely catching the graveled words Batman Imus whispered to Robin. You could have heard a pin drop as they worked, both spoke in hushed tones. Batman was clearly the guy in charge. He told Robin, “Get me that screwdriver, the one with the star head . . . I need the screwdriver with the bend in it.”
My keypad stilled. My eyes popped. Even Buddy knew the terms Phillips head and flathead for screwdrivers. A bit later Robin asked me for a wire hanger.
The duo struggled to finish up two hours later. Between 10 huffs and maybe 20 words, Batman indicated a part they had to order and the name for me to print on a fifty-dollar check.
Robin told me as they left, “[Batman’s] really good at this.”
I believed him.
That first Epiphany two millennia ago Gentile men were welcomed into a home. They met a young mom and a gurgling toddler son. Overhead burned a star that led them to this home in this village of which rolled manuals foretold:
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
out of you shall come forth for Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.”
Micah 5:2 nkjv
These Gentiles believed Him. I, too. And you?

Cindy, the description of your repairmen made me laugh. I can see it all and admire your patience! I also admire how you found your Epiphany message and shared it with us. Thank you. May the Epiphany light shine brightly in your heart.
